SCC SDO Launches Digitized Lessons and Learning Materials

Perez Hall, SEPNAS –To suffice the demand of the digital natives, San Carlos City Educators accepted the challenge by means of upgrading the learning process. The Division Office through the initiative of the Curriculum Implementation Division Chief, Dr. Editha R. Pridas, the very first Division Launching of Digitized Learning Lessons/Learning Materials was made possible, dated June 26.
The said launching was participated by the SDO SCC key personnel headed by SDS Sheila Marie A. Primicias, with the OIC SGOD Chief, CID Chief, Education Program Supervisors in various field of expertise, Public Schools District Supervisors, All School Heads both in the Elementary and Secondary level, and of course, the Digitized Lessons and Learning Materials Writers.

The prelude of the program formally commenced as Mr. Raymundo B. Ambanloc, the principal of the host school, welcomed all the participants. A dance number was also performed by the PNHS Team Legacy. After which, CID Chief Pridas shared and somehow enlightened the minds of all the participants about the statement of purpose; rationale or an overview of the digitized lessons and learning materials. She even quoted that “Digitization of lessons and learning materials is a project DIRECT which means Digitization of Instructional Resources for Efficient Competency-based Teaching.” And that, this was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the assigned writers in all learning areas: English, Science, Mathematics, Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao, Filipino, Araling Panlipunan, MAPEH, EPP/TLE/TVL, Special Education, Mother Tongue, Kindergarten and Alternative Learning System respectively.

To heighten the momentum of the launching, SDS Sheila Primicias delivered her message of thanks and challenge to all the participants particularly the digitized lessons and learning materials writers/developers to continuously embark among themselves the sworn responsibility as they cater the needs of the 21st century learners –the Digital Natives, so to speak. Primicias ended her talk by leaving this notable quote:

“Many of the things we need can wait,
but the child cannot.
Right now is the time, his bones are being formed,
his senses are being developed, his blood is being made.
To him we cannot answer TOMORROW,
His name is TODAY.”

Moreover, the hall was filled with excitement as the participants did the Gallery Walk. They were given the chance to roam around and check on the simultaneously playing compiled Digitized Lessons and Learning Materials per subject area. On each station, the assigned teacher-operator showcased the IMs. For the succeeding part of the program, the distribution of CDs and External Drives with digitized lessons and learning materials as its contents were handed over to the school heads and PSDS per District. For the finale remarks, CID Chief Pridas thanked everyone for their untiring support to the ideals and aspirations of SDO SCC onwards achieving success. Thus, to further empower the teaching-learning scenario; to cater the needs of the 21st century learners-CHANGE has to be done. This is to give emphasis on the true essence of education which is to turn MIRRORS (reflections of the past)into Windows (avenues for new learnings).
